ABSTRACT
The educational system must be integrated with the construction industry requirements to create a capable system. It will provide students with the knowledge and other variables that the construction industry requires. This can be achieved by involving industry experts in education system. It is important that academia takes the lead in promoting industry participation that improves the quality in the educational system as a whole. The industry must act as a catalyst in developing academic courses to evolve in ways that better meets their criteria. The high standards of academic courses will not only encourage the construction industry to participate but also bring academia and industry together, as both have a very specific role.
This research is an analysis of cleanroom construction course, an educational system capable of accommodating relatively broad and diverse cleanroom industry requirements. Cleanroom construction is used as a model course because it is relatively new and unknown, and the knowledge presented is in association with the cleanroom industry. Course framework has been designed to create an atmosphere for understanding the critical issues of design and construction of a cleanroom facility as experienced during construction and is the most contemporary information available. Based on the cleanroom construction course development and the results from an industry survey, this research has defined a framework for establishing an education model of industry involvement in construction.
