ABSTRACT

Research Project Title Effects of Advanced Design Tools (ADT) on Construction Productivity
Objective To determine the relationship between the use of advanced design tools in different design stages and the construction productivity in cleanroom construction.
Status Research and development finished. Currently writing final report (Thesis)
Issues Use of ADT lengthens the design time but shortens the installation time. The balance may change from case to case.
Recommendations The scope of this research can be expanded to cover the whole semiconductor facilities construction process.
The effects of factors such as structure type, location, labor quality, installation sequence, etc., can be integrated into the productivity model.

The pathfinder program can be improved or rewritten as a stand-alone program to accommodate the integration of the new data into the available functions. Such integration will allow more accurate prediction of the effects of design methods on design and installation times.

The reasons for the dispersion in the available data should be researched for determination of problem spots in the design and installation phases. Finding problem spots and improving them will al
low a higher design and installation productivity
